About Eats and Retreats travel and rentals
"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away".
Our network of web portals and signature site "Eats & Retreats" were formed in celebration of those who share Thoreau's belief in finding happiness and self fulfillment. Those who value the freedom to travel to their own beat.
Passionate about exploring the world
Like Thoreau, I've always been passionate about exploring the world. Not only are new sights, sounds, smells, and cultures refreshing, travelling should be inspiring, even life changing at times. Whatever the type of accommodation you choose on your travels, it will become your temporary home, providing the base for you to venture out in search of new experiences, or offering s hideaway far from everyday distractions so you can enjoy being with your loved ones. Having spent nearly two decades in various sectors of the hospitality industry, I have seen first hand the importance of choosing the right place to stay. This is especially true for the discerning travellers who choose to stay in private villas, and the type of guests that this lifestyle attracts.
Understanding our guests
Understanding our guests and respecting their needs is what drives Eats & Retreats. Every single property listed on the site, from an opulent villa in the French Riviera to a contemporary private residence in Bali, is managed by trustworthy companies and owners with whom we have enjoyed a long term relationship, which ensures complete confidence in the quality of the property and services provided. For airport transfers, private chefs, or any of the additional local services you may need, our partners are the most recommendable.
Choosing the right villa
In choosing the right villa, you should first be sure that this is the best option. As outlined in our corporate website's FAQ page. A private residence offers the freedom to decide your own schedule, choose your own activities and indulgences and live to your own rules.
Some of the key questions you should consider are listed below:
-
When and where are you considering the holidays?
December is drastically different in Aspen compared to Thailand. We have villas in all the popular resort destinations around the world, so it is crucial to keep in mind the part of the world and which time of the year you are planning your travels. -
Who are you travelling with and what is the trip for?
Depending on whether the trip is to celebrate a friend's upcoming wedding, a romantic honeymoon getaway, or your annual family holidays, the purpose of the trip can help filter your choices by the size and the type of villa. If you are travelling with children, you should also consider the type of destination and whether there are museums, excursions, or other family activities nearby to keep the whole family entertained. -
How much are you setting aside for accommodation?
With villa options ranging from US$125 per night for a cosy villa to upwards of US$ 5,000 for a private palace, we have a range of properties to suit every taste and budget.
If you have any questions about any of our properties or destinations, or even a suggestion of where you would like us to offer villas, my team and I look forward to hearing from you.
Do your homework
Lastly, be aware that there have been recent reports of fraudulent online villa rental activities. Before you book villas on the Internet, make sure you are comfortable with the company and the person you are dealing with. Do your homework. Talk to the contacts on the phone, and ask for guest references. Understand the payment terms and booking conditions before you confirm anything. Always keep in mind the well known adage - if it's too good to be true, it often is.
Happy travels!
